Jackson Woodcock

Jackson Woodcock

Loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend.
You are sorely missed.

Jackson McKenzie Woodcock, age 18, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh as result of a motorcycle accident of no fault of his own. Born in Wayne County, Jackson was the son of Jamie and Cynthia Woodcock. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Patricia and Hugh Brick and his maternal grandfather, Frank Jackson.

Jackson was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved to duck hunt. He was a member of Brownings Methodist Church and was a Boy Scout with Troop 10. Jackson worked two jobs, the Food Lion in Newton Grove and did auto body repairs with Body Tech, while also attending Hobbton High School where he was finishing his junior year.

Jackson was always laughing, smiling, and making others laugh with his jokes. He was a loving and kind person who was always thinking of others. At the age of 16, Jackson made the decision to be an organ donor and through his decision, many lives have been physically healed. Jackson now lives on through those that received his gifts.

I worked with Jackson at Body Tech. He was a good hearted young man. He would always make me laugh from his goofy dancing he would do, or just the things he would say. Always a trip, and fun to be around. We had many motorcycle talks, and I would be ready to hear about what he wanted to do to his motorcycle next. I rode my motorcycle one day then he come in, and said I like your bike. I said oh yeah go take it for a spin. He looked at me and said really? I said yeah! He rode it down the road, and come back grinning from ear to ear. I’ll never forget how happy he was. Thank you for all the good memories we had together. Ride and rest easy brother!

Jackson was one of my best friends, it hurts me so much that he’s gone, he’s smile brightened the halls in school, and he made English class the best, two weeks before his accident he came to my job and waited for me at the end of shift to give me a hug and talk, he always managed to put a smile on my face no matter how down I was, he’s one of the best guys I’ve ever met and the fact that he’s gone breaks my heart. I will never be the same, and our friendship will forever stay with me. To Jackson’s family, I’m so sorry for your loss, he was a great guy, may God be with you. Jackson is now watching over all his loved ones. He will forever be missed.

This semester I had to meet and be with Jackson in one of my classes, the always smiling, friendly and gentle one of the few people you meet and gave you a smile without asking for anything has changed. He was one of my partners at the dance where we had the same class, when I knew that he had had an accident I really hoped that he would recover soon and that he would continue with his classes they were an intelligent boy who put effort and dedication to his studies he liked to help people and never say no, we will remember you with the smile you always had on. Just like we will remember you every time we play Mafia. I hope wherever you are, always carry your smile and joy. We will always remember you.
